“You will pay for their sins”
way of penance is a 2020 American horror feature film about a hardened criminal who takes a job at a creepy old house on the titular lane.

Directed by Peter Engert [as Peter Engert] from a screenplay written by Munier Sharrieff, the film stars Scout Taylor-Compton (star light; The Prowler; Haunted house; et al), Tyler Mane (abnormal attraction; Rob Zombie Halloween and on; The devil’s rejections), John Schneider (demons; Muffled; snow beast) and Daniel Roebuck (Wild boar; 3 from hell; dead night).

Violent ex-con Crimson Matthews (Tyler Mane) hopes he’s found his way to redemption by doing odd jobs on Penance Lane. However, Matthews’ job leads him to unearth an untold evil and discover how far a dying town will go to bury its past…

“To his honor, way of penance makes an asset of its overactive plot, and the pace is such that the film is rarely boring. At a time when the horror market is crowded with lazy junk that doesn’t put in the bare minimum of effort, Engert and Sharieff’s ambition to outdo each other makes for a refreshing change of pace. 1428 Elm

” …way of penance seems like he was doomed to mediocrity from day one. Its actors never say die and fight until the very end, however, delivering an experience that, while not particularly memorable, is at least survivable for its succinct runtime. cryptic rock

“Someone needs to tell them that Crimson isn’t the cool name they think it is or that portraying the female headliner as hopelessly helpless is terribly outdated. Put simply, someone just needs to dare to say the words you don’t often hear on a low budget film set, “Let’s try another take”. Cultural crypt

“The action, pacing and horror all kick up a notch or three and never stop until the movie is over. I loved that way of penance was not a typical horror film – similar in this respect to, Open fracture. There are layers to the story – some may seem familiar – but overall the film is interesting. eclectic arts

“While he doesn’t fully realize his grindhouse ambitions, way of penance mixes that old chestnut of the “scary house at the end of the block” with the familiar horror movie trope “mutant family” and produces a dirty and creepy B-movie funhouse. Movie Threat

way of penance travels a well-trodden road indeed. We have a ramshackle house full of mystery (a tradition since the gothic age), a town well aware of the descent of darkness, and a stormy individual with the soul of an outsider who sinks deep into said shenanigans… all well done , but we’ve seen most of this material before. horror fuel

“Peter Engert way of penance is a fun, silly ride that satisfactorily entertains the viewer. It’s not a work of art, but it doesn’t have to be. Not all films have to move the needle and sometimes clear fun is enough to succeed…” killer horror review

“While my only complaint about the movie is the focus on this masculinity of male emancipation, I really enjoyed it. Maybe it was the creatures of the science experiment and the level of violence, but this movie reminded me a bit Incident in a ghost country. Even though these films are very different, I had strong vibes that reminded me of the latter. Nightmarish conjurations

“The story of way of penance could have been a lot of things with just a few changes. This could easily be a pure action movie in the vein of Steven Seagal fire belowWhere […] Hotel. A story with just a little more meat on its bones and the cast will help the film stand out a bit from its peers, but the rest of the quality is below mass appeal standards. Red carpet accident

“Director Peter Engert does a good job of trying to balance the varied elements of way of penancemostly succeeding in the dramatic portrayals of its lead actors, but also delivering a healthy dose of tension. way of penance has four writing credits, and the movie craves it. In other words, rather than a singular or evenly shared vision, it feels more like a “too many cooks” scenario…” The scariest things

“There’s a good moment of action at the start, then things quiet down for a while, but before the action picks up and lasts until the credits start rolling. After the opening sequence , the film and some of the characters are not who you think they are. The further the film goes, the more surprised and disturbed you will be.” Video views

“Granted, way of penance doesn’t have the most logical of plots. But it makes up for it with a lot of action. This includes an epic fight that looks like a wrestling match, perhaps another nod to They live. There are also a few twists I didn’t see coming and a performance by Schneider that reminded me of a villain on the Batman TV show. And I say that in a good way. Voice from the balcony

“Apart from some impressive performances by former wrestlers, Dukes of Hazzard veteran John Schneider is used well in the film. I still love seeing Daniel Roebuck and Scout Taylor-Compton giving my favorite horror performance I’ve seen her in to date. It’s a nice descent way of penance it doesn’t lead to the dead end you might expect. Without your head
