The Walt Disney Company has renewed its global theatrical distribution partnership with New Regency, the production company behind films such as Bohemian Rhapsody, The Revenant, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Little Women, The Big Short, and Bride wars.
The deal was a carry over of New Regency’s 10-year deal with 20th Century Fox, which was concluded in 2011 when Disney bought a large chunk of Fox’s entertainment assets.
Disney will continue to advertise and distribute New Regency’s new theatrical releases on various platforms. As part of the deal, David O. Russell’s next big film will be the first new production to be released under the extended deal. The film is currently in post-production. It stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Rami Malek, Anya Taylor Joy, Michael Shannon and many more in the untitled feature film.
“The entire Disney team is fantastic and we couldn’t be happier to have them as partners. It’s the perfect home for our films, and we look forward to continuing this fruitful relationship, ”said Yariv Milchan, President and CEO of New Regency.
“We are extremely pleased to extend our long-standing and much-loved relationship with New Regency to market and distribute their films. We look forward to bringing their entertainment list to audiences around the world for many years to come, ”said Justin Connolly, President of Platform Distribution at Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution.
