Assuming this won’t be an obstacle she can’t overcome, Mavis returns to her hometown of Mercury, Minnesota to put her plan in place. In the process, she befriends Matt, a former classmate whom Mavis barely remembers. Despite her misguided confidence, Buddy has no intention of reconciling, and Mavis is forced to take a look back at the life she leads.
