Relaunched after a 25-year hiatus with two compelling new releases – ‘Music for the Planet’ and ‘Jellyfish Moon’, The Lürxx are forging new paths
Inspiring positivity and greater awareness of societal issues, The Lürxx unveiled two new releases in August 2022 – an album “Music for the Planet” and an EP “Jellyfish Moon”. With a mission to reimagine the complex relationship between humanity and nature through an anti-speciesist lens, talented artists build a unique creative presence.
With empowering tracks, the band hopes to change the way people think, catalyzing the mindset shift needed to save the planet. A core of two veteran artists, The Lürxx includes the genius of Xavi & Sabú, who have been a couple and have been making music together since they were 13 years old.
Following their immigration to Hollywood as illegal immigrants in 1996, at the age of 18, the duo had to spend time on the streets, on the Sunset Strip, trying to “make it”, playing in the club scene in West Hollywood (notably at Coconut Teaszer, Roxy and Troubadour).
Lürxx’s new release features original 90s drummer Joe Prozac on the album “Music for the Planet”, recorded in his hometown of Liverpool. Liverpool is also the city where Xavi and Sabú began their musical journey as Beatles fanatics in 1989.
Energizing audiences with a sense of hope, energy and passion, The Lürxx presented complex songwriting, underscored by a relaxing rhythm and groove. Devoted climate and nature advocates, they feature unusual lyrics, focusing on issues such as eel migration, evolution and antispeciesism. Pushing the boundaries of genres and experimenting, the duo’s distinctive mixes include various combinations of instruments including guitar, recorder and drums.
“We believe in the transformative power of art, in the power of music to move the soul and change the way people think. Currently, we are working on new material for our upcoming album ‘Second Chancers’,” the artists explain.

An anti-specist hard rock band with Hollywood roots from the mid-90s, The Lürxx is a core group of two phenomenal artists, Xavi and Sabú. A gender nonconforming couple, the artists have been together and making music together since they were thirteen years old.
In 2000 the artists felt they needed a different input and decided to go back to school and study the classics. Singer and guitarist Xavi went on to study environmental science and now works with a focus on integrating the arts into the climate crisis discourse, enabling people to connect more deeply with nature. Meanwhile, Sabú is currently studying for a Masters in Ancient Worlds at the University of Edinburgh. Xavi was diagnosed late with dyspraxia and ADHD, and Sabú overcame severe depression – hence neurodiversity and mental health are also themes that fuel their art. In 2020, now based in the UK, Xavi and Sabú have reunited the band and are ready to take on the world!
