5 K-pop bands to follow if you love rock

As K-pop music reaches more and more people, other genres like Korean hip-hop and Korean rock are also gaining recognition. Many famous Korean bands have debuted over the years, but there are still a lot of bands that don’t see much light.

That’s good, MNET has created the show “Great Seoul Invasion” to let the public know more about the groups!

In this article, we have listed some of the bands from the show for you to check out!

ONEWE

First on our list is ONEWE, the rock band from Rainbow Bridge World Entertainment. They introduced themselves as an alternative rock band. First launched in 2015 as MAS, they later changed their name in 2019 and re-debuted with members Yonghoon, Harin, Kanghyun, Dongmyeong, and CyA.

They have more than 10 songs that you can listen to and get to know the band better.

They also have different content on their channel that you can watch as you get to know them better.

MGFF

Macguffin or MGFF is a group formed in November 2016. The four-member indie rock band released their debut single “Curtain Call” on November 9.

Although they lean more towards the softer side of rock music, they still have the “mmph” factor.

If you love rock but love acoustic versions of rock songs, MGFF is for you. They have released acoustic versions of their songs which are very soothing.

ordinary heroes

JYP Entertainment’s new boy group Xdinary Heroes are making headlines as they dominate the K-pop rock scene.

The group debuted last year in December with the song “Happy Death Day” under JYP’s Studio J label. Their name comes from Extra Ordinary Heroes, which means anyone can be a hero.

Gunil, Jungsu, Gaon, O.de, Jun Han, and Jooyeon all went on the MBC Every1 variety show “Weekly Idol.” They also did photo shoots for 1st look magazine in Korea.

If you like strong rock songs, then this Korean band is for you!

Southern Club

Also known as Nam Tae Hyun’s South Club, the group has four members, including former WINNER member Nam Tae Hyun. They debuted on June 27, 2017, under the South Buyers Club agency, with their debut album “90”.

On November 5, 2019, group singer Nam Tae Hyun and his group members Lee Dongkeun, Kang Minjun, and Jung Hoemin are now under P&B Entertainment, a subsidiary of Soul Shop Entertainment.

Gap

Taking their name from a company in the famous movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, lacuna fits the band so well that they release soothing rock music that’s perfect for rainy days and lonely times.

This Korean band has been making headlines in Korea recently with their fairy tale songs. They are also on MNET’s “Great Seoul Invasion,” but were recently eliminated.
