ten Die Hard (1988)

Any film involving a lone hero in an isolated setting taking on a group of villains will inevitably be compared to die hard. Indeed, Interceptor owes a lot to that iconic action flick starring Bruce Willis as John McClane as a cop who must take on a group of terrorists who are hosting a corporate Christmas party.

Captain Collins has definite McClane vibes as she’s a relentless heroine who takes a lot of beatings but keeps moving. She also enjoys making fun of her enemies, which McClane helped popularize in action movies.

9 G.I. Jane (1997)

Demi Moore in G.I. Jane

With all the action, Interceptor also addresses the challenges faced by women in the military. Although not given much attention in the story, it’s interesting to see such a topic covered in a movie like this.

G.I. Jane was another action movie that also touched on the subject. Demi Moore plays a female recruit to the Navy SEAL program. As she faces endless sexism and disrespect, she never stops in her mission to prove all her doubters wrong.

8 Panic Room (2002)

Very early in InterceptorCollins finds herself locked in the base’s control room with the villains on the other side, desperately trying to fight their way out. It’s a risky decision to narrow the scope of the film so much, but it also adds a lot of tension. .

One film that did exceptionally well was the thriller panic room by acclaimed director David Fincher. Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart play a mother and daughter who lock themselves in the secure panic room of their new home when thieves break in. However, they soon discover that men want what’s in that room.

seven Broken Down White House (2013)

Despite threatening to destroy several American cities, the film’s villains consider themselves patriots. For various reasons, they find that the country has gone astray and needs to be reset. It is a similar position taken by the wicked in white house down.

The film stars Channing Tatum as a lone hero who must protect the President (Jamie Foxx) when a group of domestic terrorists take over the White House. It’s another riff on die hard but has a funnier energy than the similar theme Olympus has fallen.

6 Consumables 2 (2012)

The Expendables 2 picture

Interceptor is truly a throwback action movie that isn’t seen much anymore. In some ways, the style and tone may seem dated, but it’s sure to provide some nostalgic fun for fans of these types of adventures.

The Expendables The series was specifically made with the intention of bringing back that action movie style with lots of guns and brawn and cheesy one-liners and the second movie focuses on them trying to stop a bad guy who’s been stealing nuclear weapons. Although it focuses on a team of heroes rather than a lone hero, Elsa Pataky would make a fitting member of the Expendables team.

5 Crimson Tide (1995)

The threat of nuclear missile launches has been used many times in movies as a global threat and it is effective. This movie takes an interesting take on the trend by focusing on the hidden aspects of such a launch.

Crimson Tide is similar in that sense, and while it’s not an action movie, it’s a terrific thriller that also uses a confined setting. Denzel Washington stars as a submarine officer who fights with his superior (Gene Hackman) over whether or not to launch their nukes.

4 Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)

Ethan Hunt is a hero who has often gotten mixed up in the same kinds of things that Captain Collins faces in the movie. But while nuclear weapons are often a threat presented in the Impossible mission films, this is the fourth installment that shares similarities with Interceptor.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol find Hunt and his team alone and race to stop a rogue Russian villain from dropping a nuke in his twisted way to save the world. Although this is a planetary adventure, the fact that Hunt and his team are left to their own devices gives it a similar sense of isolation.

3 Broken Arrow (1996)

John Travolta as Vic Deakins in Broken Arrow (1996)

There’s a definite suspension of disbelief that has to happen when watching movies like this. For example, the idea that a small group of treacherous soldiers could steal nukes is absurd, but it’s a fun adventure.

This is also the plot used for John Woo’s action movie broken arrow. John Travolta stars as a military pilot who steals a few nuclear weapons to hold the country for ransom. Christian Slater plays his former co-pilot who has to stop him.

2 The Rock (1996)

The Rock Nicholas Cage Sean Connery

The remote military base in the middle of the ocean is an ideal setting for this action flick and really makes Collins feel like she’s on her own. This is also used very effectively in Michael Bay’s excellent action movie, The rock.

When a group of rogue secret agents take over Alcatraz and threaten to unleash biochemical weapons unless a ransom is paid, it’s up to a sweet biochemist (Nicholas Cage) and an escape artist. jailhouse (Sean Connery) to arrest them.

1 Under Siege (1992)

Part of what makes Collins such an interesting hero is how little she is respected by the military. Past instances of her standing up for herself have made her a target of harassment and attempts to push her out of the military altogether.

Steven Seagal’s Casey Ryback in Under Siege is a similar hero in that he is a very capable soldier who is demoted to the rank of cook aboard a battleship. But when a group of terrorists take over the ship, it is revealed to be a one-man army.
